Discover Suomenlinna – Where Nordic History Comes Alive

Built across six islands starting in 1748, this impressive bastion grew from a small outpost of the Swedish archipelago fleet into one of Finland’s most treasured attractions.The best way to get to know the fascinating story behind the Suomenlinna fortress, is to join a guided tour.
During the guided walking tour an authorized Suomenlinna-guide tells about the 270 years of eventful history of Suomenlinna under the rule of three different states as well as the life on the islands today. The guide will take you to the most important sights of the fortress, such as the Great Courtyard and the Dry Dock, which in its days was among the largest in the world.
During summer, participants also enjoy free entry to the charming Ehrensvärd Museum.

The tours start from the Suomenlinna Museum. Duration one hour. It takes only 15 minutes to get to Suomenlinna from the Market Square: you can find the ferry timetables and the ticket prices here.
